n/s front wing

The old n/s front wing was really badly rusted in several places and also previously "bodged" so, although it was a genuine original Mercedes wing, I decided to replace it for a brand new wing.

The pattern wing arrived and looked good:

Luckily it also fitted very well. The wing was fitted as it came out the box to ensure the fit was good before any painting was done.

As described in another post, I have retrofitted the Post-86 side indicator lenses so a hole had to be cut into the new wing:

It was given a key with an abrasive pad and then primed with Etch Primer:

It was then flattened off, and then several coats of Signal Red paint were applied.

Once dry, the underside of the wing was coated in underseal.

Once the retrofitted wheel arch liners were fully fitted and the newly fabricated wing partition panel was added (decided to fabricate one myself rather than pay the £35 it is from Mercedes), the wing was bolted onto the car:

Everything was then masked up and then several nice final coats of Signal Red paint was sprayed onto the wing:

The various bits of trim were then fixed very carefully to the wing:

And a finished picture:
